as one who lives in the shadow of the infamous Space Needle, let me be a loud voice for googie! I love it. The Space Needle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Needle) is a remnant of the 62 Worlds Fair, always a great place to see the googie era at it's finest.

Seattle recently lost a classic example of Googie architecuture, the Ballard Denny's (http://www.flickr.com/photos/urbanreviewstl/2343346531/)... =(

It's not bad at all; on the other hand, if you got someone truly in tune with the era and the style, can you imagine a modern rendering of such a thing? The possibilities are mind-boggling.

It occurs to me that a Googie-to-the-nth-degree rendering of the future would make a great backdrop for a scifi flick. Not a cartoon. A living, breathing FILM!

Sadly, it would likely degenerate into cartoonishness at best, parody at worst. Rather than going to the bother of hiring someone to score the pic, the producer would probably reach into the record bin for assorted 1950s space age pop selections.

Wait a minute. That's not really so bad after all! Léon Theremin, take me away!

Yes, now that I know the terms for it, count on me digging up more Googie on a regular basis. Weekly, even! :D
